Letošní Emmy působily spíše jako pocta skončenému seriálu Breaking Bad. Walter White a jeho štáb dokonce v drtivé většině kategorií překonal seriálový hit True Detective. V kategorii komedie už tradičně vládla Modern Family, která jako druhá v historii získala pět těchto cen. Jako první na tuto metu dosáhl Frasier. Naopak ani jednu nominaci nezískalo stále ještě poměrně čerstvé zklamání v podobě ukončeného How I Met Your Mother. Kategorii TV filmů a minisérií ovládl poměrně překvapivě se svou nejslabší sérií Sherlock.
